Adviser's Report on August 3-7 Visit of President Santy

Dear Classmates,

Am glad to report the activities in California during President Santy Morante's visit August 3-7, 2006.

1. August 3 - Welcome Dinner at the VIP Buffet in La Palma attended by the following : Santy, his brother in law Jun Nuval, Delfin and Kaye Zafra, Raffy Contreras, Jim and Eden Jenkin, Efe and Rene Fajardo, Dina Comaduran, Boy Soriano and Edgar.

Before the crowd dispersed, an informal meeting was held and it was agreed that the Cali Fundraisers will have a casino turnaround fundraiser and it was tentatively set on Saturday, August 26. Eden Jenkin will orchestrate said fundraiser.

2. August 4 Friday - Speedy and Santy had an early breakfast meeting at the Ten Ten Seafood Dimsum Place (we were later joined by Pareng Del Zafra) where the following topics were discussed:

a. Continuity of gatherings in RP and abroad to keep the reminiscing spirit alive and kicking till we have our gatherings in July 2008.
b. Continuity of MI Class '65 scholarships for 2007 and 2008 - 6 scholars in 2007 and 8 in 2008.
c. That the 2008 medical mission will have the same format like the medical mission last June 2005.
d. Santy proposed to hold the reunion somewhere in Quezon City for a change of venue.
e. The possibility of a souvenir program for the 2008 gatherings was also discussed.
f. Edgar presented a plan on how to raise the funds to cover 2007-2008 scholarship funds, as well as the medical mission and reunion
g. Identical committees will be created in early 2007, to keep the ball rolling on all these activities and projects.
h. Our 2005 green t-shirts will be used during the medical mission. However, a new shirt will be printed for our reunion.
h. Yes, there will also be a 2010 45th year reunion as was originally planned

3. Delfin brought Santy to the Bocaue Town Fiesta in So. California held on Saturday noon, March 5 in Schabarum Park in Rowland Heights.

4. Saturday night August 5 - Santy was invited to attend the induction of officers of the Mabuhay Lions Club Chapter in California, the invitation coming from Virgil Tolentino, past District Governor of the Lions and member of the Kayumanggi Lions CLub in LA. I attended this induction held at Universal Sheraton Hotel.

5. Sunday night - August 6 - Santy attended the induction of officers of another Lions Chapter - the Corregidor Lions, also upon invitation of Past District Governor Virgil Tolentino. Lion Rene Fajardo and Efe were there too, with other Lion members.

6. Monday, August 7 - Delfin, Santy & I had a last lunch meeting in Cerritos this noontime.

At 4 PM. Santy attended a send-of dinner by some Lions headed by Rene and Efe Fajardo , VIrgil Tolentino and a few other Lions, also in Cerritos.

Santy leaves tonight at 10 PM for RP.
